Room 13's Class Treaty

A treaty is an agreement that two people or countries sign. In New Zealand the Maori and the Crown signed the Treaty of Waitangi so they could agree to live together and not have wars.

In our class we also have a treaty. Our treaty tells us what we should do in the classroom. Room 13 put their own rules on our treaty so no one will fight in our classroom. We all signed the treaty and put a picture of ourselves around the outside of it.

The treaty is a reminder for us to be nice to each other.

We think that your treaty looks good and you have some good rules. Pipi likes the octupus around the side of the treaty. Very cool.

  4. Hi room 13, it sounds as though you have a good idea about how treaties work and that is excellent. My class has a treaty too. We brainstormed the clauses together and then voted for the ones we though would be valid for all of us. I added in a few things that I thought would make our class a happy place and we all signed it on Friday the 5th, the day before The Treaty of Waitangi was signed 170 years ago. Keep working hard room 13 and be nice to my mate Mrs Fale.
